<p>The apparatus is worn by a user and includes a means for automatically scanning the bladder of the user with ultrasound signals. The returning signals are used to calculate the volume (46) of urine in the bladder, and also to calculate the actual surface area (44) of the bladder, and how the theoretical surface area (48) of a spherical bladder having the said calculated volume is determined. A surface area index (50) is then determined. The surface area index value is an indication of the roudness of the bladder, and hence the pressure within the bladder.</p> |
