The invention concerns a method for querying, in a computer system, via at least a request at least an object included in at least a containment tree contained in at least a machine operating on the CMIP-type management protocol, a request consisting in updating or consulting the objects of the containment tree, a request including a context comprising the set of parameters (classes, attributes, operators, variables and so on) describing all the elements of a request, at least one parameter based on the rule of compatibility between instances limiting the processing of the request to a subset of instances of one class. The invention is characterised in that it consists in generating an operator capable of inhibiting, on a given class, the rules of compatibility on instances so as to process the request on the whole set of instances of the class concerned by the request.
