INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM AND ERROR DETECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information recording media and a novel error detection method provided with an error detection code not influenced by a cross talk from an adjacent track. SOLUTION: Each bit E1-Em of an error detection code contained in preformatted information is generated as a parity check bit of a plurality of data column formed by dividing each of bits S1-Sm forming a sector number and each of bits T1-Tn forming a track number respectively. In the case of comparing the obtained error detection code between adjacent tracks, a distance between codes is always unity. Consequently at the time of reading out an error detection code from a desired track, generation of a cross talk does not occur substantially from error detection codes of tracks on both sides. And so the error of address data even for media with narrowed track pitch can be detected surly and precisely.
