摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader which can stably read objects (bar codes) to be read which are marked in various forms. SOLUTION: This optical information reader which receives reflected light from an object to be read when the object is irradiated with laser light from the reader, binarizes the electric signal corresponding to the received quantity of light by performing waveform processing on the signal, and decodes the object to be read from the binarized signal is constituted in such a way that a waveform processing means 3b can be switched to fixed gain amplifier circuit composed of an attenuator 41 and amplifier circuits 42 and 44 having settable amplification factors and an automatic gain control circuit composed of the attenuator 41, amplifier circuits 42, 44, and 45 having settable amplification factors, and a peak holding integration circuit 46 by means of a change-over switch S and, at the same time, the amplification factors of the amplifier circuits 42, 44, and 45 are set to optimum values found in conformity with using time at the time of using the reader.
