PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oval speaker which can brake the unnecessary 'struggle' of a diaphragm by installing a control means braking the movement occurring in the direction opposite to the driving direction of the oval vibration of a driving system at a prescribed position in the long diameter direction of the oval diaphragm. SOLUTION: Driving coils 18L and 18R are wound with projection parts 17L and 17R formed in positions facing a separate position 7 where 'struggle' occurs on the long diameter of the oval diaphragm 3 at the inclination part of a funnel-like frame 16 as yokes. A circular recess 25 is formed in a separate position, and disk-like small magnets 26L and 26R are inserted into the recess 25 and they are joined to the diaphragm 3. When sound signals are supplied to the driving coils 18L and 18R, the projection parts 17L and 17R being the yokes become S-poles and the S poles of the magnets 26L and 26R laminated on the recess 25 of the diaphragm 3 repel each other, so that the separation position 7 of the diaphragm 3 is made to move upward and the downward deformation of a node part which occurs by the swing of the diaphragm 3 in driving is forced to moved upward.
