PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve brightness and contrast by arranging at least >=2 kinds of color filters which allow the transmission of wavelengths of a specific range of visible light and white filters which allow the transmission of visible light so as to be adjacent to each other. SOLUTION: The so-called color filters 20, 22 and 24 which allow the transmission of the wavelengths of the specific range and the so-called white filters 21, 23 and 25 which allow the transmission of the wavelength of the visible light are arranged adjacently to each other. The filters are arranged in the manner described above, by which the combinations of the color filters and the white filters are made possible and the simultaneous bestriding of the light spot formed on a color wheel across the two color filters, i.e., the so-called color mixing time, may be decreased or eliminated. Then, the time the spot needed heretofore bestrides the two color filters, i.e., a blank period, may be lessened or eliminated. The use of the light quantity of a light source with high efficiency is thus made possible and bright images may be provided. In addition, the improvement in the contrast is made possible. |
