摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image editing device which automatically recognizes the size of paper of an original to automatically set an appropriate read range and also automatically eliminates the black area of an original peripheral part which is generated in a read image. SOLUTION: A paper size deciding part 121 decides the size of paper for copying on the basis of preliminary image information from a read part 11. A black area detecting part 122 detects a black area being the closest to the periphery of the paper size assumed for an image represented by the preliminary image information. A peripheral position deciding part 123 decides the inner side of the black area as an original periphery when the black area has a width being equal to or greater than a prescribed value and generates peripheral position information. An image editing part 132 eliminates all the black areas that are closer to the peripheral side than to a position represented by peripheral position information from an image represented by normal image information stored in an input image storing part 131 and defines the image as an output image.
