PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device utilizing a birefringent layer of an optically anisotropic material being optically transparent and having a large heat resistance. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal cell 10, provided with a twisted nematic liquid crystal material 11 located between two substrates 12, 13 with electrodes, located between two polarizers 14, 15 and having an optically anisotropic material layer 16 arranged between the polarizers 14, 15, the optically anisotropic material layer 16 is formed with a synthetic resin composition with a polymer network having a helical array. |
