PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify skew servo circuit adjustment work and to cope with adverse effects caused by temperature, variation per hour or the like by controlling the tilt of a laser beam irradiating means with respect to an optical disk using a control target, that is set based on a reproduced signal level obtained during data recording, as a reference. SOLUTION: Plural offset voltages are set in a CPU 33. In the skew angles corresponding to these voltages, a reproduced signal level, in which rapid changes of the reproduced signal RF level becomes smooth while test data are written, is detected and the offset voltage, which becomes a minimum signal level among signal levels, is made as an optimum control target value and set in a skew servo circuit 32. Thus, the offset voltage of a control target is set to an optimum value based on the reproduced signal level during writing and data recording is conducted to an optical disk 2 with the skew angle corresponding to the voltage. Since an optimum skew angle is set by the reproduced signal level during recording, skew adjustment normally conducted in a factory is simplified.
