<p>A car navigation device (10) for accurately acquiring VICS information from each VICS information FM multiplex broadcasting station and providing useful VICS information to users. A B-prefecture-based VICS FM multiplex broadcasting station (26) and an A-prefecture based VICS FM multiplex broadcasting station (27) are respectively in charge of providing VICS information broadcasting in areas belonging to their own prefectures with respect to a secondary mesh boundary line (23). An FM multi-tuner (12) of the car navigation device (10) tunes its receiving frequency to the transmitting frequency of the B-prefecture-based broadcasting station (26) when a current location (16) is in the B prefecture, and obtains VICS information from the station (26). When a current location (16) on a travelling road (17) is within a specified distance d from a prefectural boundary (21), the tuner (12) tunes its receiving frequency to the transmitting frequency of the A-prefecture-based broadcasting station (27), and obtains VICS information from that station (27). Whereby, a congested area (30) on the road (17) in A prefecture can be recognized before the car goes in A prefecture.</p> |
