PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make performable the initial measurement of the convergence immediately after an excavating operation while avoiding a complicated operation. SOLUTION: When the setting operation of bench marks 201,... 20n and measuring reference points 221, 222 is finished, a photographing operation is performed in a state that they are inclined simultaneously, and an imaging screen A immediately after an excavating operation is imaged. The excavating operation progresses, and it reaches a point B from a point A in which the imaging screen A is obtained. Then, an excavating section as an object to be measured is photographed again. When an imaging screen B after the elapse of a prescribed time is obtained, the imaging screens A, B are overlapped. When the imaging screens A, B are mutually superposed, the measuring reference points 221, 222 are made to agree because the reference points are photographed in the respective imaging screens A. When an overlapped screen is obtained, the convergence in the excavating section on the respective bench marks 201, ...20n is detected.
