The device includes a weighing plate which is lightweight and stiff and coupled to a weighing cell. The back wall (61) of the weighing plate has slide ribs (6121) for guiding the postal item, and a conveying device with a transport belt (41) forming the base of the weighing plate. The back wall is skeleton-like arranged behind the back guide wall (1) of the scales. The slide ribs protrude through suitable horizontal slits (11). The ribs are preferably parallel and equidistantly spaced.
