The method involves projecting the image through a lens (110) of a digital image acquisition device (105) onto an image sensor (130) in a digital image system, whereby the lens has a fixed lens to sensor distance, changing the object (140) to lens distance to pass the object through the fixed focal plane (170) of the lens, activating a memory circuit connected to the image sensor and a memory, storing images in the memory when the memory circuit is activated, recovering the image from the memory and selecting the best focused image. An Independent claim is also included for a digital image system, for a method of recording a focused image and for a digital image recorder.
