PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the areas of input keys existing on the same face for increasing the size of a display screen in portable information easily inputted by one hand. SOLUTION: Five input keys 1-5 for characters are arranged on the side face of portable information equipment so that a space for enlarging a screen size on the surface can be ensured. Also, characters or functions are optimally assigned to the combination of the on and off states of the five keys 1-5 so that the input of a document or a function operation can be realized only by the five keys 1-5, and a simple and quick one hand inputting operation can be realized. Moreover, a protruding holding bar 11 is formed on the side face so that stability at the time of side face key input can be ensured.
