By the method the pipe insulation is made by means of a tubular sheathing including a tubular part which optionally is supplied with a radial slot and consisting of bound mineral fibres orientated perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis, and sheet material (4) which by means of adhesion is fitted to the outer side of the tubular part. The tubular sheathing is mounted in such a way as to envelop the pipe, and the section of the sheathing insulating a pipe elbow is subjected to alternating pressure and stretching in axial direction before it is mounted on the pipe. 6 claims, 3 figures
