Producing microstructured objects, e.g. toothed wheels and grids, is achieved by stamping two layers, one forming the object itself

Two differing thermoplastic layers are stamped, embossing the first, which forms the microstructured object. The second layer is detachable. A stamping plunger used, has microstructured projections on a plane baseplate. In stamping, the projections puncture through the first layer and press into the second. The stamped composite is extracted from the forming tool. Its layers are separated. Preferred features: The forming plunger produces a grid microstructure. The tool produces individual, separated microstructures.
