PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly apply clamp processing to a signal even when an optical black level fluctuates due to a leaked light. SOLUTION: A camera signal outputted from a CCD imager 14 is given to a clamp circuit 16, where clamp processing is applied to the signal at a dummy bit level. A clip circuit 18 applies clip processing to the signal at a level lower than an optical black level for the optical black period of the camera signal which has been subjected to the above clamp processing. Then only when the optical black level fluctuates due to leaked light, the clip processing becomes valid and the fluctuation in the optical black level is suppressed. A clamp circuit 22 clamps the signal with a signal level after the fluctuation is suppressed. As a result, no large disturbance is caused to an image displayed on an LCD 32.
