PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cable which has resistance to on- board chemicals as well, is stable even at and under a high temperature and high humidity and is suitable for boarding on a vehicle with high reliability by providing the plastic optical fiber cable with a fiber having an adhesive barrier layer formed of a specific copolymer and a coating layer consisting of nylon 12 of a thickness of a specific value adhered to the fiber. SOLUTION: The outer side of the bare plastic optical fiber 6 consisting of a fiber 1 and a sheath 2 formed of a fluororesin is provided with the fiber 7 having the adhesive barrier layer 3 which has a thickness of 2 to 50μm and is formed of the copolymer consisting of at least 87 to 92 mol% vinylidene fluoride component and 8 to 13 mol% hexafluoropropene component and the coating layer 4 consisting of the nylon 12 of 50 to 700μm in thickness adhered to the fiber 7. According to such constitution, the chemical resistance and the stability at and under the high temperature and high humidity are improved and in addition, a terminal treatment is made possible without stripping the coating layer 4. The fiber is thus usable as the on-board plastic optical fiber with the high reliability.
