PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely change the outline of a character without losing the smoothness of a curved portion on a display while designing an outline font. SOLUTION: A display 3 displays a coordinate point group which indicates the outline of a character that is displayed by an outline font. A pointing device 2 inputs an instruction which specifies and moves any one of the coordinate points included in the coordinate point group on the display 3. When any one of the coordinate points is specified, a coordinate point compensating means 14 changes the coordinate data of the coordinate point and moves the point in accordance with the movement of the device 2, changes other coordinate points arranged in the vicinity of the coordinate point and changes and moves the coordinate data so that relative positional relationship is maintained.
