<p>A method for manufacturing a fluorescent lamp wherein a phosphor suspension containing a phosphor, a metal oxide as a binding agent, pure water as a dispersion medium, and ammonia as a pH-adjusting agent is prepared and the suspension is applied to the inner surface of a glass bulb, followed by drying and baking treatment, to thereby form a fluorescent film, characterized in that the phosphor suspension is adjusted to have a pH of 8 to 10, and the metal oxide comprises aluminum oxide particles having a specific surface area of 1.5 m2/g to 30 m2/g. A phosphor suspension used in the method is less susceptible to the change in quality, and a fluorescent film having a high film strength of 1.5 kgf/cm2 or more is obtained even when the fluorescent film is formed using a phosphor suspension which has been allowed to stand for a long period of time after being prepared.</p> |
