PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate design of bias point by bringing a first ferromagnetic material layer into contact on the side opposite to a film plane where the first ferromagnetic material layer abuts on a nonmagnetic spacer layer. SOLUTION: The magnetoresistive effect element comprises a nonmagnetic spacer layer 103, and first and second ferromagnetic material layers 104, 106 separated by the nonmagnetic spacer layer 103. The first ferromagnetic material layer 104 forms a magnetizing direction making an angle to the magnetizing direction of the second ferromagnetic material layer 106 when the applying field is zero. A nonmagnetic highly conductive layer 101 is brought into contact with the first ferromagnetic material layer 104 on the side opposite to a film plane where the first ferromagnetic material layer 104 abuts on the nonmagnetic spacer layer 103. According to the arrangement, design of bias point is facilitated.
