A small-sized ink jet head is provided in which a piezoelectric actuator (21) is used to spray ink from a pressure compartment (3). A vibrator (22) is composed of two layers including a layer (27) of smaller Young's modulus and a layer (28) of larger Young's modulus to increase productivity and reliability. The layers (27, 28) have Young's moduli from 50 to 350 GPa, and the vibrator (22) has a total thickness of 1 to 7 mu m.
