PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device whose color picture processing speed can inexpensively be speeded up by executing a prescribed picture processing on a color picture signal which does not contain a white pixel and then re-connecting white pictures. SOLUTION: A color picture signal is converted into a luminance signal having the three places of R, G and B by the input means 1 of a scanner and the like. The luminance signal is inputted to a white pixel decision means 2 and a white pixel is decided with respect to a pixel of interest. The pixel which is decided to be white is separated from an original picture signal by a white pixel separation means 3. The various picture processings such as color conversion and gamma correction are executed on the pixel which is not decided to be a white pixel, namely, the color picture signal from which the white pixel is separated by a first picture processing means 5. A color picture to which the picture processing is executed and the white pixel separated by the white pixel separation means 3 are inputted to a white pixel connection means 6 and the white pixel is re-connected to the original position of the color picture based on position information stored in a position information storage means 4.
