PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a picture display device capable of enhancing the reduction effect of power consumption at the time both of horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals are not detected by a synchronization detector. SOLUTION: This picture display device performs power savings by performing controls so as to turn a main power source 18, a power source for heaters 19 and a power source for detecting a first synchronizing signal 14 off at the same time when both of the horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals are not detected by a first synchronizing signal detector 5 and by performing a control so as to turn on the power source for detecting the first synchronizing signal 14 which is turned off when a second synchronizing signal detector 11 detects at least the horizontal or the vertical synchronizing signal.
