Procedure for launching a process (31) on a server is issued from a desktop (64) on a client workstation (61) monitor (62). The process is commanded by a launcher (37) and attached to a graphical interface (67) on the server. The workstation desktop is adapted so that it can launch processes that would normally be incompatible with its own graphical interface via a communication channel (76).
