Brush for the application of mascara to the eyelashes

The applicator brush has a central core of metal wire (1) of 0.50 - 0.75 mm diameter, twisted to hold bristles (4, 5) in radiating spiral tufts which are trimmed to give the brush head a cylindrical shape with a truncated conical tip. The bristles a mixture of plastic and vegetable fibres, the latter being of cotton, linen or similar with a maximum diameter of 0.6 mm and comprising between 10 and 50 per cent of the total. The plastic fibres can be solid of hollow, with smooth or grooved outer surf and a diameter of about 0.17 mm.
