Method for folding an airbag

The two circular fabric sections which make up the air bag are spread out flat one above the other to lie in a plane paralle the holding plate. The fabric halves on the left and right of the centre line are folded up along fold lines parallel to the cen line into two elongated packets directly adjoining one another on the side opposite the gas inlet opening. The individual folded layers of the packets have substantially the same height and are set perpendicular to the holding plate. The two elongated packe are adapted to the receiving volume by folding and/or winding about axes perpendicular to the holding plate.
