PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prolong the life of an intermediate transfer belt and to obtain high-quality images free of image defects by preventing the transfer position of a toner image onto the intermediate transfer belt and the stop position of the intermediate transfer belt after image forming operation from existing at the same position and to obtain the high-quality images free of image defects. SOLUTION: This image forming device detects the detection mark 14 on the intermediate transfer belt 6 by a timing sensor 15 and inputs this detection signal to a controller 16 via a signal delay device 17. The controller 16 executes the control of the primary transfer start timing of the toner image onto the intermediate transfer belt 6 and the stop timing of the intermediate transfer belt 6 after the end of the image forming operation in accordance with the detection signal inputted thereto by the signal delay device 17 at every image forming operation, thereby preventing the transfer position on the toner image onto the intermediate transfer belt 6 and the stop position of the intermediate transfer belt 6 after the image forming operation from existing at the same position at a1 times, thereby making it possible to prolong the life of the intermediate transfer belt 6 and to obtain the high-quality images free of the image defects. |
