PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize a document with a routine format by optionally adapting pages even when page attributes are different by setting an adaptation attribute to indicate how to adapt the pages when the pages are synthesized with the document and adapting the pages based on the set adaptation attribute. SOLUTION: A document page is outputted to a page synthesizing means 106 by a document storage means 101. The routine format suitable to the inputted document page is read by a routine format storage means 102 based on information preliminarily selected by a routine format selecting means 103 by the page synthesizing means 106 by which the document page is inputted. When the page attribute of the document page is not coincident with the one of the routine format, the adaptation attribute preset by a routine format setting means 104, namely the setting in synthesizing the routine format with what kind of document is referred from the routine format storage means 102 and the pages are synthesized after performing an optional page adaptation processing based on the setting.
