PAPER SHEET DISCRIMINATION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate paper sheets by detecting the longitudinal and transverse lengths of various kinds of the paper sheets. SOLUTION: The dimension data in the transverse (longitudinal) direction of the paper sheets is outputted from a measuring instrument 1 and the dimension data in the longitudinal (height) direction of the paper sheets is outputted from a measuring instrument 2. A control section (a central processing unit) 3 discriminates the paper sheets by determining the longitudinal and transverse lengths of the paper sheets in accordance with the data values for dimension measurement outputted from the measuring instrument 1 for transverse dimensions and the measuring instrument 2 for longitudinal dimensions and determining the aspect ratio of the data. The control section outputs error decision in the case of paper sheets of multiple transportation.
