PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus provided with printing interrupting processing function cancelling data in a desired job unit without generating trouble such that a succeeding job is also discarded simultaneously with a previous job by the designation of printing interruption and monitoring the interrupting operation of the detection of the discarded number of pages or the preservation of data to enable the effective utilization of the apparatus. SOLUTION: The forming state of printing data formed from received job data is checked by comparing the formed number of pages of a head job with the present formed number of pages at a time of the designation of printing interruption (S517) so as not to discard a succeeding job and, when only printing data of 0 or 1 job is formed, a flag for eliminating the data of a job unit by a receiving or printing standby buffer is set (S513, 516, 518). The eliminated number of pages is added up. Data to be cancelled is stored in a non-volatile memory to be used in the investigation of a cause of interruption.
