PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a highly weather-resistant emulsion suitably applicable as a coating material for exterior finish and capable of forming a dense coating film excellent in various characteristics such as weather, water and alkali resistances. SOLUTION: This method for producing a fine particle emulsion comprises carrying out an emulsion polymerization of a monomer composition containing at least an acrylic or a methacrylic ester, a dialkyl(meth)acrylamide and a surfactant. A mode in which the monomer composition contains a vinyl ester of a branched carboxylic acid, a mode in which the (meth)acrylic ester is at least one kind selected from cyclohexyl (meth)acrylate and an alkyl (meth) acrylate, a mode in which the surfactant is at least one kind selected from a nonionic surfactant and an anionic surfactant or the like is preferred.
