FORMATION OF COATING FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a coating film having high appearance quality using high-solid type clear paint by a two-coat-one-bake painting method. SOLUTION: This method comprises applying low-solid type base paint having VOC of 700-800 in coating viscosity and 2,500-10,000 poises viscosity (at 25 deg.C) when the nonvolatile content is 60-70 wt.% and the shear rate is 0.1/sec, setting for a prescribed time and applying high-solid type clear paint containing a carboxylic group-containing resin and a polyepoxide and having VOC of 400-500 in coating viscosity and 20-100 poises viscosity (at 25 deg.C) when the nonvolatile content is 55-75 wt.% and the shear rate is 0.1/sec and being integrally baked/ cured. Thus a mixed layer is hardly formed on the interface and the roughness of the surface is prevented when the clear paint is applied.
