PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording liquid excellent in lightfastness of a color image, color reproducibility and color tone by including water, a water- soluble organic solvent and a colorant composed of a water-insoluble compound. SOLUTION: This recording liquid comprises (A) water, (B) a water-soluble organic solvent and (C) at least one of compounds as a colorant substantially insoluble in water, expressed by formula I [wherein A1 is a heterocyclic ring having at least a substituent of the formula NR1R2 (wherein R1 and R2 are each H, an alkyl, an aryl or the like); R3 is cyano, carbamoyl or the like and; R4 is an aryl, a heterocycle or the like] and being e.g. a compound of formula II. The average particle diameter of the ingredient C preferably is 400 nm. When the compound of formula I is added with an adequate rosin soap or surfactant in water or an adequate organic solvent (e.g. methanol, ethanol or the like) and is heat-treated at 60-190 deg.C for 1-10 h., the lightfastness of the compound of formula I itself further is improved and the recording liquid containing the compound of formula I is expected to impart a color image improved in lightfastness and color tone. |
