PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side shift device for a forklift truck capable of preventing floating of a shifter to ensure smooth shifting operation. SOLUTION: In a side shift device in which a pair of sideways long, upper and lower finger bars 2, 3 are firmly locked to the front face of a lift bracket 1 capable of being raised and lowered, and a pair of upper and lower shifter bars 6, 7 for supporting a fork 4 are engaged with the finger bars 2, 3 so that they can travel sideways, an engaging projected part 2a of the upper side finger bar 2 is formed into a shape of rectangular cross section, the rear face of the which forms a upright face crossing the upper face at angle of 90 degrees. Then, an engaging recessed part 6a formed in the upper side shifter bar 6 is engaged with the engaging projected part 2a so as to cover it, through an upper liner 9 to execute shifting operation.
