The plastic attachment has a long narrow strip (B) and a broader end part (A). The narrow strip (B) which is 4mm wide and 40 mm long, is inserted into the lower horizontal hem of the flag through a small slit. The halyard, which is used for raising and lowering the flag, passes through a slot in the broad part (A) and is retained by a retaining screw (C).
