PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fabric which is used for ink jet printing, has a natural surface touch, and does not increase the loads of environments, when scraped. SOLUTION: This base fabric for ink jet printing is obtained by coating a woven fabric comprising polylactic acid fibers with a printability-improving agent. The polylactic acid fibers preferably contain >=1 wt.% of an inorganic particle opaquer, and the woven fabric comprising the polylactic acid fibers preferably exhaust a flame retardant.
