PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having a specific structure, useful as a medicine, an antimicrobial agent, etc., or an intermediate for producing the medicine, the antimicrobial agent, etc. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (X1 and X3 are each H, a halogen, an alkyl or the like) [e.g. 2-(3,4-dicyano-2,5,6-trifluorophenyl)acetic acid]. This compound is shown by formula II [R1 to R3 are each cyano or a COOR3 (R3 is an alkyl) [e.g. diethyl 2-(3,4-dicyano-2,5,6-trifluorophenyl) malonate]. A compound of formula III (e.g. 3,4-difluorophthalonitrile) is reacted with a compound of the formula R2CH2R1 in the presence of a basic compound (e.g. NaH) to give the compound of formula II, which is reacted in the presence of an acid catalyst (e.g. sulfuric acid) to give the compound of formula I. |
