PRODUCTION OF POLYMER AGGREGATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a polymer aggregate from floating with bubbles formed from an emulsifying agent as a cause and produce the polymer aggregate good in quality without lowering the productivity and process passableness when recovering the polymer aggregate from a polymer latex obtained by emulsion polymerization according to a freezing melting method. SOLUTION: A polymer latex obtained by emulsion polymerization is frozen and the polymer latex after the freezing is melted to provide a slurry containing a polymer aggregate. A metal salt in an amount of 0.01-1 wt.% based on the weight of the polymer and a defoaming agent in an amount of 0.01-1 wt.% based on the weight of the slurry are added at the time of melting the frozen polymer latex. The resultant slurry is then dehydrated.
