PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle thread take-up motion of easy in handling and capable of surely taking up needle thread. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a bobbin holding means to hold bobbins 9, 10 installed on a sewing machine main body and having needle thread wound around them, a take-up roller 16a to drive rotation of the bobbins 9, 10 held by the bobbin holding means in a needle thread winding direction, a first take-up switch and a second take-up switch to actuate the take-up roller 16a, a thread cutting device actuation detecting means to detect actuation of a thread cutting device for cutting needle thread under a throat plate of a sewing machine, and a microcomputer to set an operation means effective within a specified period after actuation of the thread cutting device, and set the operation means in the other period ineffective.
