PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-halogenated flame retardant composition which does not generate a halogenic gas when burnt, has high flame retardancy, high thermal aging resistance and good mechanical characteristics, and contains a flame retardant in a high charging degree without deteriorating the moldability. SOLUTION: This flame-retardant composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin, 201 to 500 pts.wt. of a metal hydroxide, and at least one of a nonionic surfactant having a HLB of <=10 and a polymeric nonionic surfactant having a HLB of <=10 or an oil gelling agent in an amount of 0.1 to 20 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the metal hydroxide. The flame-retardant composition preferably further contains an aminosilane in an amount of 0.1 to 10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the metal hydroxide. The resin composition is coated on an electric wire or cable and then irradiated with ionizing radiation. |
