PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost catalyst which shows a superb performance and has a small carried amount of a noble metal. SOLUTION: This catalyst is a ternary catalyst for treating an exhaust gas to be generated by a gasoline internal combustion engine, and the method for manufacturing this catalyst and the usage thereof are provided. The method includes a step to cover a base with 10-30 wt.% mixed metallic oxide particle based on the weight of the base. The mixed metallic oxide contains at least rare earth metals such as aluminum, cerium and lanthanum. In addition, a noble metal is borne on the coat of the metallic oxide and is rhodium having at least either of finally coated platinum or palladium. The gross carried amount of the noble metal is equivalent to about 0.177*103-1.236*103 g/cm3 of the base. |
