PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve barrier properties without causing discoloration and spoiling transparency by setting the ratio of a swellable laminar silicate salt having a diameter of a circle, having an equivalent area to that of the salt, of a specific value or less among swellable laminar silicate salts contained in a resin film to a specific value or more. SOLUTION: There is provided a resin film formed from a resin composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a polyester resin and/or a polycarbonate resin having incorporated therein 0.001-12 pts.wt. of a swellable laminar silicate salt containing at least 30 wt.% of that having a diameter of a circle, having an equivalent area thereto, of not more than 2,000Åin such an amount that the number of particles dispersed is at least 40/100μm2. The aspect ratio of the swellable laminar silicate salt in the resin film is 10-300 and the average thickness of the layer is not more than 300Å. As the swellable laminar silicate salt can be employed montmorillonite, bentonite or the like. This resin composition is obtained by preparing a swellable laminar silicate salt-water dispersion containing the swellable laminar silicate salt and water, mixing this dispersion with a polymerizable prepolymer such as a polyester resin or the like and then polymerizing the polymerizable prepolymer.
