摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producingα-chloro-o-xylene in high selectivity by industrially advantageous method. SOLUTION: In this method for producingα-chloro-o-xylene by reacting o-xylene with chlorine gas by radical reaction in a vapor phase, conversion of o-xylene is controlled to 20-50%. After the above reaction, unreacted o-xylene is recycled.
