PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the loss of frequency components of drive waveforms by including switches for supplying element current to piezoelectric elements in respective head units and supplying the drive waveform signals of a drive waveform generating circuit to power amplifiers disposed by each of the head units, thereby driving the respective head units. SOLUTION: A piezoelectric drive assembly applied to the very small printer heads of an ink jet printer, or the like, has the drive waveform generating circuit 1 and the plural power amplifiers 2 which amplify the drive waveforms generated therein in such a manner that these wavefonns can be supplied to the plural piezoelectric elements. FFCs(flexible flat cables) 3 are connected via connectors to the power amplifiers 2 and the head units 4 are connected to the front ends of the FFCs 3. In the head units 4, the drive waveforms are impressed through the respective switches of switching elements 5, by which ink is discharged in the form of large drops, middle drops and small drops from nozzles according to the drive waveform signal levels and the printing to recording paper is executed.
