PRODUCTION OF Fe-Ni BASED ALLOY BASE STOCK FOR SHADOW MASK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a base stock for a shadow mask made of a Fe-Ni based alloy which is excellent in etching property and does not generate an irregular stripe by improving uniformity of crystalline bearings without especially complicating a manufacturing process. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the Fe-Ni based alloy base stock for the shadow mask, an ingot in which columnar crystals are aligned in a direction is manufactured by using the Fe-Ni based alloy which contains 30 to 50 wt.% Ni and the balance consisting of Fe except inevitable impurities or accompanying elements by VAR(vacuum arc remelting) or ESR(electroslag remelting) or other melting casting. Then, a plate is manufactured by forging processing or rolling processing the ingot so that plate width direction thereof is a growing direction of the columnar crystal.
