PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rotate a passenger conveyor in parallel in a state of directing a riding part of a footstep upward. SOLUTION: A footstep chain 2, a plural number of footsteps 5 connected to the footstep chain 2 free to revolve, first rails 9a1, 9b1 and second rails 9a2, 9b2 to guide the footsteps 5 are furnished, and an upper part parallel rotating auxiliary device 10a to support and lay the footsteps 5 so that the footsteps 5 change their directions in a state where their riding parts 4 are directed upward between the first rails 9a1, 9b1 and the second rails 9a2, 9b2 on the upper story side are provided. The upper part parallel rotating auxiliary device 10a has a cam 11 and a lever type support part 14, and the lever type support part 14 supports the footsteps 5 by making reciprocating oscillatory motion around a rotation axis 13 by movement of a follower 12. A riser 8 of the footstep and a head end side of the adjacent footstep are meshed with each other in a state with a clearance and are formed in a shape of a comb tooth.
