PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding material for a photorecording medium which is excellent in moldability and low birefringence. SOLUTION: This molding material for a photorecording medium is made of a polycarbonate obtained by reacting 1,1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-phenylethane, 4,4'-[1,3-phenylene(1-methylethylidene)]bisphenol and a compound having three or more phenolic hydroxyl groups with a carbonate-forming compound and having a limiting viscosity of 0.3-0.5 dL/g.
