PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle of sewing machine in which a pierced hole is relatively slowly opened based on the slimness of a thin and long needle and a subject piece to be sewn is sewn with gentleness even when the number of piercing times is extremely large, and for enabling roughly completely protected traveling of thread. SOLUTION: This needle comprises a stem 2 connected to a chuck part and formed to be substantially straight to be extended along a center axial line 4 and end at a stem tip 3, and a hole 11 defined by hole webs 12, 14 parted from each other in the direction of the center axial line 4, and the hole webs 12, 14 are deflected from each other in a lateral direction perpendicular to the center axial line 4.
