PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good optical element having high transmittance of light even when the element is an optical element formed by pressure molding. SOLUTION: In this method for producing an optical element capable of obtaining optical element having desired shape by carrying out pressure molding of a heat-softened glass raw material by a forming mold, an optical element taken out from the forming mold after finishing pressure molding is immersed in a solution to dissociate a clouding component. The solution is preferably an alkaline solution or an acidic solution.
